Also, and not to jack your post, but today I saw one of the more irritating vanity plates I’ve ever seen: CPL (as in Concealed Pistol License). Why yes, it was a white guy with a beard and shitty tacticool sunglasses. The only surprising thing was that it was o n a light blue Civic rather than a (insert FCA product). Nothing wrong with having such a license—I do too—but what a dumb thing to put on your license plate.

I’d think CPL stood for someones initials, or they were Corporal in the Army.
If it said CPL 9MM then maybe I’d read more into it.

Possible. I know you were implying that it was a retired person, but I really like the idea (based in part on the relative youth of the driver) that someone on active duty would put a rank on their vanity plate, thus implying that they do not believe themselves worthy of any future promotion.
